Hardcover. Condición: Good. Oversized hardcover. Black, blind-embossed faux leather over boards with a design of an eagle on the front over the word "Achievement." Eagle is colored red and white, and the lettering is white as well. Lettering on the spine is gold. A very large volume. Measures 9.5 x 12.5," and is 488 thick, heavy pages. In good condition. The binding is square and tight. The cloth over the boards has some scuffs and tears, corners are bumped and the hinge shows wear. Gutters and endpapers show signs of repair. Boards are covered by a plastic cover. A compilation of examples of printing at the time. Contains works by artists such as Wyeth and Flagg (and many others), as well as black and white photographs, color advertisements, etc. A very wide range of subjects, as the volume was only to showcase different forms of printing and photo-engraving. Though I have not looked through each page, no plates or images seem to me missing. This is an oversized (and very overweight) book. Extra shipping may be required for international or priority shipping.

Lots of Deco style things. Weighs 12 lbs.

Thick quarto moulded mock leather; hundreds of plates in colour and black and white, some embossed, on a variety of papers. Signs of use but nothing drastic. American commercial printing and graphic art at its peak; a self composed hymn to photo-engraving, which gave birth to advertising art according to the prefatory note. This volume is lavishly illustrated with color and black-and-white images. Five pictures do not do this book justice. Thick, stamped (faux) leather/cloth over boards, 488 pp. Approx. 9.25" x 12.5" x 3", with a top gilt edge. Good Condition. Please examine photos closely. Wear, aging, soiling to covers. Some loss to rear cover. Binding is firm. Moderate play to joints, gutters appear to have been reinforced or redone- this is a heavy book, and will require additional shipping instead of the charges typically assigned. Numerous printers submitted various inserts that to the Photo-engraver's and Printer's Union for compilation in this massive book. Hundreds of inserts from printers across the country reflect everything from black and white to eleven color zinc plate printing. This work offer a nice overview of the various printing techniques of the early twentieth century. From the Dedication- "Photo-Engraving has been the hand-maiden of business progress through the development of advertising. Advertising made but slight progress until the advent of Photo-Engraving. As the art and technique of Photo-Engraving have progressed so has the influence of advertising spread over the people of this country and the people of all nations of the world.".
