Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. 1st Edition. (translated from the Czechoslovak by Raf. D. Szalatnay, edited by Helen Murphy of teachers' College New York) First Edition in English. Printed in Czechoslovakia. Quarto. 52 pp. Illustrated in colour. Illustrated, paper-covered boards, cloth spine, minor rubbing to boards but a handsome copy of this highly colourful folk art title. The author, Kozisek [1861-1933] was a poet and teacher. The title was originally published in Czechoslovakia in 1923. The illustrator, Mates [1881-1966] uses a vivid colour palette arranging the animal characters in complex patterns on the page. A rather wonderful series of tales and poems from a Middle European tradition.
