Published in 1913, this is a first edition of this translation of The Way of Contentment by Kaibara Ekken Kaibara Ekken (1630-1714) or Ekiken, also known as Atsunobu, was a Japanese Neo-Confucianist philosopher and botanist. bound in an old quarter leather binding bound by Bumpus of Oxford, titled and decorated in gilt to the spine, a small slim format measuring just over 6.5 inches tall, 112 pages. The leather is noticeably rubbed at edges with some noticeable darkening to spine and spine edges, wear to leather at spine ends, some mild cracking to leather joints though boards still well attached. some marking and darkening to cloth, internally old presentation inscription to front endpaper else contents in nice condition. This is a lighter item, overseas shipping costs will be reduced accordingly at checkout where possible BINDING WORN AND MARKED, ELSE CONTENTS NICE AND CLEAN.
