Per the title page, the text has been literally rendered from the Arabic into French by J. C. Mardrus, and then translated into modern English by E. Powys Maters. With eye-catching illustrations by Edward A. Wilson, Wilson's adaptation of an ancient map of the world by Edrisi to endpapers and an introduction by C. S. Forester. Sandglass leaflet laid in (NY, no. 11M). --- In grey paper-covered boards with Sindbad image to covers in red, with red quarter cloth with titling gilt-stamped on spine. All edges stippled in multiple colors. Slipcase covered in grey paper. --- With a small cover corner bump, otherwise a clean, tightly-bound copy. Slipcase with repairs to one end in mismatched paper, also with sunning and some soiling but stabilized and able to protect the book. ; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; xiv, (6), 21-124 pages.

Illustrated with four color frontispieces. Rendered from the literal and complete version of Dr. J.C. Mardrus; and collated with other sources; by E. Powys Mathers. This being set number 1656 on Bond paper, of a limited edition of 2250 copies, the first 750 of which were printed in 16 volumes. No previous ownership marks. Book blocks are untrimmed at fore-edge and bottom, top edges are gilt. Binding are worn with wear to head and heels of spines and quarter inch gouge to spine on volume IV. A sound, internally clean set in cosmetically worn bindings, albeit books are sound with strong hinges tight book blocks and clean pages. Good set. Photographs on request. A heavy set, Priority and International orders will require additional postage.
