Hardcover. Condición: VG++. No Jacket. Photos, Maps, Diagrams Ilustrador. 1st. Lloyd Homer is a leading NZ photographer in the field of landsape forms and Phil Moore a geological scientist. Both worked for the NZ Geological Survey and had combined on one previous geological book. The sub-title describes "Vanishing Volcanoes" as a guide to land forms and rock formations of Coromandel Peninsula. The preface observes that ". the Coromandel Peninsula is an excellent place to see examples of the volcanic events and processes that occurred millions of years ago." This activity was a "major factor" in the formation of much of NZ. After presenting a general overview to NZ's volcanic and geological histoy the book studies 26 Coromandel locations, including some islands, to present details of this past activity at each. As the preface points out, most of these sites are readily accessible by road and a short walk.
