"Library of Congress Overseas Operations Div." stamped on reverse side of Title page and the LOC bookplate on the title page. Light edgewear to boards with more moderate wear to head and tail of spine. Near Fine binding.

A uniformly bound set of four retracing the history of Rajkumar College from 1870 to 1910, the first edition of this remarkable work. Rajkumar College in Rajkot is one of the oldest educational institutions in India, founded in 1868 and officially opened in 1970. The present collection is comprised of four of seven volumes which complete the set, retracing the rich history of the college from 1870 to 1910, illustrated with photographs and maps throughout. Compiled by H.H. Sir Bhavsinhji from the papers of Chester MacNaghten, first principal of the College, and other sources.A remarkable text with decorative margins, comprising: vol. I: Introduction; vol. III, 1891 to 1901; vol. V, 1906 to 1910; vol. VI, Appendices.Dated from Jisc 1911, first and only edition of this work.With a bookplate of compliments of His Highness the Maharaja of Bhavnagar to the front pastedown of vol. I.Illustrated with two coloured maps, one of which folding, a large folding plan of the college, one coloured plate, and ninety plates of photogravure in black and white. In the original publisher's full cloth uniform bindings with decorative gilt to the boards and spine, gilt to the edges and marbled endpapers. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, general light soiling to the boards and spine. With minor damp marking to the rear board of vol. III and faint to the front board of vol. V and VI. With a bookplate of compliments of His Highness the Maharaja of Bhavnagar to the front pastedown of vol. I. Internally, firmly bound, only occasional plate loose to vol. V. With minor chipping to the occasional plate of vol. V, not affecting the illustration, except one facing p. 303 which is affected by a horizontal closed tear. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with two coloured maps, one of which folding, a large folding plan of the college, one coloured plate, and ninety plates of photogravure in black and white. Very Good. book.
