Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. Schwerin, Ludwig Ilustrador. In Hebrew. 104 pages. 213 x 11 mm. Pages slightly yellowed. With rubber stamp impression of early owner. With sketches by the author, Ludwig Yehuda Schwerin (10 July 1897 Buchen, Germany - July 21, 1983 Ramat Gan, Israel) Schwerin was born in the town of Bocken near Heidelberg , Germany to a traditional Jewish family. His father was a cantor, teacher and decorator of Torah scrolls. In his youth, he approached a local potter and helped him with the decoration. During World War I , from 1916 to 1918, he served in the German army. In 1919 he began studying at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with the Jewish-German painter Gustav Wolf and in 1921H he continued his studies at Academy of Art in Munich with Max Drnr (Doerner and Peter Halm (Halm). During this period he published various periodicals and books. In 1928, some of his works appeared in Menorah. In 1932 he moved to Berlin. After Kristallnacht, during which his studio was burned, he fled to Switzerland , and in 1939 immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in Tel Aviv.Schwerin's early work, from his time in Munich, was influenced by contemporary German Expressionism. Subjects included images from the Bible and Jewish tradition. In addition, many portraits of people from the circle of society. After his immigration to Israel has focused his work mainly describing the local landscape. These works are characterized by a naturalistic approach. In the 50s he returned to painting in oils.
