Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good dj. Fireside BCE. [slight bump to upper rear corner, minor dust-soiling to top of text block, one-time owner's name and address (screenwriter Mel Shavelson) neatly printed on front pastedown; jacket typically browned at spine, short tear at lower front foldover with short diagonal crease at lower right corner of front panel]. (two B&W photographs) Based on Bissell's novel "7-1/2 Cents," about a labor dispute in a New England factory; basis for the 1957 film of the same name (co-directed by Abbott and Stanley Donen). [This edition lacks a printing statement, but seems to be one of the earliest Fireside Theatre Book Club printings, quite possibly the first thus of this title, as the rear jacket panel contains testimonials from Gertrude Lawrence, Katharine Cornell, Noel Coward, and others, lauding the "proposed plan" for the Fireside Theatre as "an excellent idea."].

Property of Music Theatre Incorporated with address and phone number on title page. A very nice copy of this scare play script. "The original Broadway production opened on May 13, 1954, at the St. James Theatre, and ran for 1,063 performances, with a brief stop at the Shubert Theatre at the end of the run. It was revived in 1973, and again in 2006 by The Roundabout Theatre Company. The original production, produced by Frederick Brisson, Robert E. Griffith and Harold S. Prince,[1] won a Tony Award for Best Musical." "This production is also noted for starting the career of Shirley MacLaine. A relative unknown at the time, she was selected to understudy Carol Haney's role. Starting in late-May 1954, MacLaine filled the role for several months, as Haney was out of commission with an injured ankle. Director/producer Hal B. Wallis was an audience member at one of MacLaine's performances, and signed her as a contract player for Paramount Pictures.". Book.
