Libro Original o primera edición
Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. First edition leather & suede bound oversized hardcover measuring 11" x 8" x 2 3/4", weighing . One of the best copies we've seen, with very light surface soil on rear board, glove leather tips and quarter bound spine displays well despite a bit of color flaking on the backstrip. Buff suede on both boards with bright gilt coaching whip and title on frt cover. Former owner's tidy name on fep, spine cracked at title and last page, 158pp plus an additional fifty-one full size plates in the rear, all tight and well secured, but last half of book shows watermarks and some light rippling in the upper spine area quadrant. Book is not musty. Writing at the turn of the century, Francis T. Underhill provided horse and carriage owners with a comprehensive guidebook that described how a well turned-out carriage should look and be handled. An expert in coaching and equipage, Underhill wrote with enthusiasm and a thorough knowledge of the subject, offering his readers a wealth of information about horses, harnesses, coaches, stables, and liveries, as well as useful "suggestions to the uninitiated.".
