Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Not a book but a 10-inch, 33-1/3 rpm, "Collector's Issue" Long Play vinyl record LCT-1, Side 1 (Caruso, Farrar, Garden, Johnson) in near-mint condition, Side 2 (mostly Lehmann) playing through a couple of light scratches; cardboard jacket very good, the bottom split and showing a few brown tape ghosts to edges. Gold label with red print. Undated but probably 1951. Jacket notes by Emily Coleman, Music Editor, Newsweek Magazine, detailing how Puccini found his favorite Floria Tosca when he went to Vienna and discovered Maria Jeritza (this version recorded in New York 1928); how Puccini shouted "Who sent you to me? God!" when the young Enrico Caruso came to audition for the Livorno premiere of Tosca (this recording made in Camden, 1909); how he discovered Geraldine Farrar in rehearsals for "Madame Butterfly" at the Met in 1907 (and this recording was made in 1907), etc. Also includes a pre-1905 European recording of Francesco Tamagno performing Verdi's "Death of Otello." Fine print acknowledges sound quality of these early recordings do not "represent RCA Victor's present-day high standards." Reduced from $17.50.
