Some losses and staining to wraps. A bit of foxing seen to front wrap only. Old stamped Boston address to cover. Pages lightly toned, a few dog-eared.** An interesting article about the career of Maine tourism promoter Captain Charles Alden John Farrar (1842-1893), publisher of this brochure, was written by W. Krohn in the Bethel Maine "Courier", (2012) a publication of their Historical Society. Spending early years in Boston, he trained as a printer and newspaper editor, parlaying a precocious business experience into a State of Maine granted business monopoly on travel to, and conduct business in, the Lower Rangeley Lakes region. An interesting case study in nineteenth century vertical integration of the outdoor recreation tourist industry. Scarce.
