Condición: Fair. 1886. No Edition Remarks. 344 pages. No dust jacket. Decorative blue cloth with gilt lettering. Gilded page edges. Black and white illustrated plates. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages. More prominent to text block edges, pastedowns and free endpapers. Moderate cracking to gutters and hinges causing some looseness to binding, pages and boards; all remain attached. Pen inscription to front free endpaper. Boards have minor fraying, corner bumping and edgewear with minor tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with prominent splitting and crushing to ends. Lettering remains bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean.

Condición: very good. First edition thus. Hardcover book . Original pictorial brown cloth over bevelled boards, with gilt titles, borders, and gilt and black printed images to front and spine. Top page edges gilt. ix, 8344pp. With 12 pasted-on photogravure illustrations in plates, as well as decorative engraved chapter heading borders and initials. Brief preface by Dobson, then a selection of Scott's published writings on various Royal people including Macbeth, Mary Queen ofSscots and Charles II. Each is preceded by notes by Dobson. A Very Good copy. The Decorative front cover is bright and very good, spine cloth slightly dulled and rubbed with frayed edges; rubbed corners and spine ends. Pages clean, with some light foxing at ends; binding holding but a little slack in places. Nice church prize label inside front cover, 1894. Photos available.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. Not dated. Believed to be circa 1910. Miniature size. In very good orange, pictorial boards with a miscellany of coloured objects, e.g. elephant, balloon, watch and white title field with different titles - 'The Children's Book Of Riddles & Games'. The covers are clean, tight and straight; spine has vertical crease and is a little worn. Unmarked tartan end papers. Shiny red cut edges. The text block is in very good condition - especially for age - with tightly bound, square and clean pages, except for last page which is tanned. With attractive b/w illustrations. No dedications etc. Without jacket.

Has more nursery rhymes than I've ever heard of from all over the country and also has riddles, natural history rhymes, cradle songs and lullabies, day and weather rhymes and round games. Cloth boards with red backstripe and with illus of "Jack & Jill" on paper pasted to fnt. Ex-owner's name on f.fep. Pages and boards are loose, and detached but have been roughly repaired with tape at back and fnt hinges.Boards loose 240 pages incl. index of first lines & 12 b&w illus. Contents clean.
