Hardcover. Condición: Good. No Jacket. THE TROJAN HORSE IN AMERICA, Martin Dies, hardcover, 1940. BOOK CONDITION: good. The text block is in near fine condition with no dog ears, marks, or tears. The pages are age-toned, and there is a magazine illustration inexplicably attached to the gutter of pages 88 and 89, but with no effect on the lines of text. There is a bookplate (Texas Federation of Women's Clubs) affixed inside the front cover, but there are none of the other elements of public libraries (checkout card, etc). Again, inexplicably some other magazine illustrations, including Eisenhower, are affixed to the first free endpaper and inside the back cover. My guess is that a subsequent owner, not someone from the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, pasted these into the book. The black boards are in fair condition (rubbing, nicks in the edges, spots, bumped corners, faded and spotted spine with bumping (top and bottom) and library call number printed in white). The inner flaps of the dust jacket have been laid inside the book, but with no other portion of the dj. 8 ¼ x 5 ½, 366 pages, 22 ounces XX [From the inner flaps] No AMERICAN questions the vital threat of Trojan Horse activities in this country. What he wants to know, and to know quickly, is the nature and extent of these activities. There is obviously just one man who is qualified to give this information. That is why Martin Dies has written this book of unprecedented national importance. For more than two years the Dies Committee has been uncovering un-American activities. With energy and ingenuity, it has made an exhaustive, thorough investigation. The unparalleled powers granted such a Congressional committee have enabled it to employ a large staff of experts, to take testimony from anyone it chose to call. That the results have been startling and highly worthwhile has been apparent virtually from the start, so much so that they have convinced even the most bitter political opponents of the committee. Many new facts are revealed for the first time in this book. But most important is the perspective it gives the reader, revealing the method and scope of the whole investigation and showing the significance of its findings. The press reports have been sensational and revealing, but to the newspaper reader, they have been woefully incomplete and misleading. The meaning of much of the most important material which takes a period of time to develop has been missed altogether. Most other revelations, adapted to the requirements of daily headlines, have been distorted. We know that a vast accumulation of evidence exists. We know that there is dynamite in it. What it needs is review, emphasis, and interpretation. Here is a reasoned and realistic analysis. The time for Red-baiting and politics is past. We are confronted with a whole mass of agencies from avowed Communists and the German-American Bund to the Fur Workers' International and the Transport Workers' Unions and a host of 'Christian' and 'Patriotic' fronts.
