Pamphlet. Reprint of Turner's 1947 text with Ryder's modifications and update; 68p., illustrated with b&w period photography (the one of 1895's "used record" room is a goodie), softbound, a plain printed pamphlet in 9x6 inch skyblue stapled wraps. The overlapping covers are a little edgeworn, and inside front cover is an adhesive stain (about one inch across), otherwise quite cleanly, sound and unmarked.

Covers the early settlers to the Mendocino Coast after statehood, including Charles Russell Johnson, one of the founders of the Union Lumber Company, giving some of his background and genealogy. Follows the development of the company and Mendocino County. On an off-white paper stock with rough-cut outside page edges, and numerous black and white photographs. In very good condition, with the exception of a paper clip stain from a metal paper clip formerly on the ffep, affecting the front pastedown, ffep, and following blank page.
