Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Fair. Naval Intelligence Division, August 1945; 8vo, 145 x 220mm; pp xvi, 526; 134 plates, 120 maps, plans and text figures, large map of New Guinea folded and held in the pocket at the end; blue linen titled gilt on the front board and spine; binding rather faded, internally clean and reasonably firm, a fair to good copy . . . . . The work is part of the series of geographical handbooks prepared primarily for naval intelligence although not limited to matters of naval interest. The works are designed to present detailed information on the various countries of interest in the series, readily assimilated, for service use and the distribution was restricted to serving personnel. . . . . . Note that as the volume weighs just over 1kg it may require a small carriage supplement, the extent determined by the destination and the service requested. Naval Intelligence Division, April 1943; 8vo, 143 x 220mm; pp xv, 485; 148 plates,68 maps, plans and other figures in the text, large general map of Syria loose in its pocket at the end of the volume; yellow linen boards titled gilt on the front cover and dark brown on the spine; cover generally dull and with a 2cm tear at the head of the spine; internally firm and clean throughout. . . . . . The book is one of the new series of handbooks prepared by trained geographers with the aim of presenting detailed information on geography, ethnology, administration and resources on countries of strategic interest, each volumes copiously illustrated. The focus is largely naval but the information provided extends beyond purely naval interest. The books in the series were restricted to offical uses and intended only for distribution to those then in active service. Clearly much of the information is now out of date but the books in the series still provide value information about the countries concerned. . . . . NOTE that as the book weighs a little over 1kg it may require a carriage supplement in the case of overseas (but not domestic UK) orders, the amount depending on destination and service to be used.
