Red Boards. Condición: Very Good Minus. 1st Edition. Type: Z A lovely two volume set. Gilt embossed lettering to black leather title blocks on the spine. Illustrated with 16 full page colour plates and 70 full page black and white plates as called for. Charming bookplates to the front end papers. Light uniform fading to the spines and very small spots of rubbing to the title block, not affecting the lettering in anyway. Volume I - pp108. Light rubbing to the corners of the boards and to the head and tail of the spine and to the head of the rear board. Slight rubbing to the spine strip. Slightest of foxing to the fore edges and frontispiece plate. A couple of slight scratches to the front fore edges. Clean and tight. Volume II - pp261. Rubbing with some fraying to the cloth at the head of the spine. Light rubbing to the corners of the boards. Light foxing to the fore edges, reverse of the front end paper and reverse of the frontispiece plate. Clean and tight. A very good set of this well illustrated set.

The boards are shelf rubbed, edge worn and marked, with some light fraying along the edges and the spine, but they remain strong and sturdy. Internally, the end pages are tanned, but there are no other markings or inscriptions, and the pages within are neat, legible and complete. Tightly bound and in very good condition for its age. JK. Condición: Fair. A very rare copy. Pale orange cloth boards with decorative front and spine and dark green lettering. Boards have mild shelf wear with slight rubbing. Pages are age tanned with occasional foxing. Hinges are beginning to crack. Eight coloured and sixty- three black and white plates by C F Newall.
