Cloth. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. F. Graham Lodge Ilustrador. First Edition. Hardback. First Edition. Anchorage on the Costa Brava. Foxing to end inside covers. Slightly sunned top and bottom edge of spine of cloth. Shelf wear and small tear to edge of D/J. Dr. Douglas Clyne, obliged to abandon his gynaecological practice as a consequence of a severe paralysis, spends six moths each year at the small fishing village and resort or 'Sa Cala Tranquila' on the Costa Brava. He writes of the difficulties of finding a house for himself and the family and of the tribulations of getting a house built in Spanish fashion. Settled in his house, there are tht trials of maids and of shopping in slow-moving village style. Compensation comes, however, from the natural delights of 'Sa Cala Tranquila' and the warm friendships made with colourful personalities both amongst the native villages and the summer visitors. The author gives an intimate picture of these people - a picture that culminates in his account of the foundation of the Sa Cala Association, whose main achievement it is to dig up the anchore that has remained buried for hundreds of years on the beach and to put it in a place of honour on a concrete plinth on the foreshore. All the local lore of this small seaside village makes a delightul book. 221 pp. pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
