Libro
Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Popular edition of the second of four volumes of the series "Battles and Leaders of the Civil War." The series grew out of articles published the 1880s in Century Magazine, written by participants in the war itself. These first-hand accounts, written by generals down to captains, along with civilians and wives, provide a remarkable history of the war years, along with insights into the character of the men who led the war effort. Another edition of these four volumes published by Castle in the 1950s had different subtitles for each volume. This edition was apparently published in the 1980s and 1990s, also by Castle, but with new subtitles on the dust jacket for each volume. (The subtitles are not on the facsimile reproduced text.) 760 pages, with hundreds of engraved illustrations and 53 maps. 6¾ x 9½ inches. With the exception of a very small tear to the dust jacket at the upper right front corner, the book is in nearly new condition. Sales tax will be added to all California orders.

Hardcover. Condición: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. 1st Edition. This wonderful book recaptures the glory and tradegy of crucial months during which the tide of war was turned. It is a volume of living history, an account of surging events told in the words of particpants that must, by its immediacy and authenticity, transcend the interpretive presentation of generations of scholars dealing in retrospect. Of unsurpassed importance as a primary source in American history, it is a magnificant reconstruction of the most significant period during the Civil War. This wonderful large light pale green hardback book is in reasonably good condition. Normal wear and marks apply, consistent with everday use and age. Some shelf-life wear and marks. Dust jacket included, has sellotape wrapped along top edge, have no idea why! but it does and i'm happy to leave it there, rather than try to take it off, price clipped at base and also top of inside cover. All 752 pages intact, all text, pages and illustrations are in good, clean readable order. Being for the most part contributions by union and confederate officers. Based upon "The Century War Series" Edited by Robert Underwood Johnson and Clarence Clogh Buel, of the Editorial Staff of "The Century Magazine" Please note this is a large heavy book, therefore postage may increase in cost from listed price depending on final destination. A fabulous book and definitely a book for the home library.
