Cloth. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Carol Woodbridge Mulder Ilustrador. First Edition. Imported Foundation Stock of North American Arabian Horses: Volumes I(Registration Numbers 1-232) and II(Registration Numbers 233-485) by Carol Woodbridge Mulder were published by Borden Publishing Company, Alhambra, California, in 1969, and 1972, respectively. Neither of these offerings are ex-library copies. Volume I runs to 247 pages, and is in VG/G condition. Volume II is done in 290 pages, and is also in VG/G condition. Both volumes measure 11" X 8 1/2". Both books are in remarkably similar physical condition, quite firm/sound. Both display a modest yellowing of pages of texts. Both dust jackets display general, random, spotty shelf wear along the top/bottom edges of front/back cover sections, with more noticeable shelf wear at top and bottom edges of both jackets' spines. There are 2-3 smallish tears seen at top or bottom edges of front cover sections, but they are repairable upon easy removal of clear plastic coverings now in place(I've left that to their next owner). From front inside jacket flap, Volume I, "This book [is]. a single source of unbiased information about early imported foundation animals, and a means of tracing their pedigrees back to desert bred lines. The book should give some meaning to the names appearing in the pedigrees covered by this volume, and some idea of the merit of the ancestors. The photographs, many old and rare, are, due to these circumstances, not always of the desired quality, but they are valuable nonetheless for the insight they give of horses long since gone, but still important to the Arabian breed. .Nearly 20 years of research has gone into this work, and a time finally came when it was necessary to stop looking if the material was ever to be published. .All told, this work should be of great value and interest to students of Arabian horse bloodlines." From front inside flap, Volume II, ".Volume II follows the same worthwhile goals set forth in Volume I. .Volume II [also] contains valuable illustrated discussions of colors and markings within the authentic Arabian breed of horse, as well as other useful information, such as a chart on the inheritance of 'glass eyes'." These two books, so profusely illustrated with both photos, and finely-drawn sketches(mostly by the author), beg for more description, but this space is not adequate to allow same. I must mention that, for each of the respective volumes, there is a Table of Contents, List of Illustrations, Ancestral Index, Sire Lines, Family Lines, Breeders of Animals(i.e., Desert, Egyptian, English, Russian, French, Algerian, and Not Listed). A Bibliography is found only in Volume I. SPECIAL NOTE: There is, spanning pages 1-6 of Volume II, a section titled "Corrections and/or Additions to Volume I", Reader. If you love and admire the Arab, whatever your reason/s, these books might well be considered minor treasures. Also, FYI, these books, together, were assigned Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 76-79645. These books will only be available to United States Residents. Postage to send them out of the States is simply too pricey. Thanks very much!!.
