Hardcover. Condición: Near Fine. 1st Edition. This First Edition hardback was published by The Navy Records Society in the UK in 1913. It is a very attractive copy in at least 'Near Fine' condition. This is an especially interesting volume as published just before the First World War it covers the disaster that was to lead to the Court-Martial and execution of Admiral Byng for cowardice. The Admiral was of course shot on the deck of his former flagship HMS Monarch on 14 March 1757. The event gave rise to Voltaire's famous comment, which perhaps had some truth to it. The book is bound in the usual NRS series dark blue cloth binding with the book's titles on the spine in gilt. The condition of the book is 'Very Good' and it was published without a dust-jacket. The main text of the book has 224 numbered pages. There are no illustrations. The size of the book in inches is 9.2 x 6.3 and it weighs 0.60 kg. As with all our sales of books within the UK, we only ever charge a flat standard delivery cost of £3.35.
