Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First edition. 8vo. [10], 3-373, [1] pp. Quarter black cloth over grey paper boards with white lettering on the spine. Price of $5.95 on the front flap of the dust jacket. Illustrated with one black and white photograph. Inscribed with personalization by the author on the free front endpaper. Biberman was blacklisted and jailed in 1947 for failing to acquiesce to the demands of the House of Representatives' Un-American Activities Committee. His movie, Salt of the Earth, focused on the discrimination and prejudice Mexican-American miners faced in Silver City, New Mexico. The film also examines the lives of the wives of these miners, and the ways a patriarchal society stifled them. Multiple blacklisted artists worked on the film. Biberman's book also contains lessons to be learned from McCarthyism, and he denounces the Red Scare as a scourge. A small concavity to the spine and a tiny brown spot on the top textblock; jacket has a small discoloration to its rear panel and minor edge wear.
