Lexington Ave, NY from Army General Duane, Chief of Army Engineers, dated April 15th, 1896. Max Nordau wrote a book in 1893 on the the decline of the human condition, "Degeneration," predicting erasure of the Enlightenment. This provoked many responses, including this book, and was one of the major topics of the day amongst the intelligentsia. 1st/later - now protected by archival quality mylar jacket.
