Hardcover. Condición: Very Good+. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good-. First Edition; First Printing. New York: Near Fine in Very Good- dust jacket. 1970. First Edition; First Printing. Unpaginated pages; Publisher's black cloth, spine and front cover lettered in pale blue, with a photographic illustration on the front cover. Black dust jacket repeats the design of the binding; top front corner of the upper flap clipped -- two small tears along the top edge of the front panel have created a two-inch-long "flap, " without loss. Stated first edition, with number string to match on verso of the title page. A photo-essay showing two photogenic young boys living and playing on the upper West Side of Manhattan. Vincent is black and Danny is white. The text by Susan Hall is presented as a dialogue between the two boys. Bob Adelman [1930-2016] volunteered as a photographer for the Congress of Racial Equality in the early 1960s and, while there are other aspects and subjects in his work, he is best known for his photographs of the Civil Rights movement. The Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division acquired the Bob Adelman photographic archives including approximately 50, 000 prints and 525, 000 image negatives and slides. In 2007, he published 'Mine Eyes Have Seen: Bearing Witness to the Struggle for Civil Rights. ' This 1970 photo-essay predates by two years the other collaboration between Adelman and Susan Hall listed in his Wikipedia biography -- [Adelman, Bob and Hall, Susan. "Gentleman of Leisure: A Year in the Life of a Pimp". New American Library, 1972]. .; Americana and American History, Photography, Most Recent Listing.

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First Edition. 188pp. Silver boards, blind stamped, Black and white photographs throughtout. Light wear along the front gutter, spine lean, otherwise a near fine, unmarked copy. Unclipped pictorial jacket has light wear to the extremities. "An in-depth exploration of the underworld figures that populate our streets at night. The book is a collection of photographs and interviews dramatically documenting the private life of a pimp and his prostitutes. The people who appear in this book are not models: they are real people with real lives. Only their names have been changed to protect the guilty, their stories are real. Armed only with a camera and a tape recorder, Adelman and Hall entered the lives of the pimp Silky and his women. What they found flew in the face of prevailing prejudices: stripped of stereotype and myth, the pimps and whores that shared their tales were complex people embroiled in romantic dramas, with a code of behavior as intricate as the Mafia s, and a defined sense of self." Size: Octavo.

His photos, some of which are archived at the Library of Congress, captured segregation and civil unrest in the South.
