1773 COPPER ENGRAVING RARE ANTIQUE BOOKPLATE PRINT , a parish in the hundred of MANSHEAD, county of BEDFORD, 4 miles (S. by W.) from Ampthill, containing 634 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Bedford, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £9.17., and in the patronage of John Everett, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. There is a place of worship for Baptists.The church of St. Mary Magdalene is in the Early English style, and consists of chancel, nave, aisles, porch, and an embattled tower containing 5 bells, retuned and rehung in 1893: it was beautifully restored in the year 1857, at a cost of about £2,000 : an organ has been presented by Major and Mrs. C. Campion, and a stained window as a memorial to the late lord of the manor and his wife. The register dates from the year 1560. PUBLISHED DATE 1773 LONDON PRINTED FOR R. GOADBY SOLD BY J.
