1773 COPPER ENGRAVING RARE ANTIQUE BOOKPLATE PRINT. The Clifton and Durdham Downs (both on the Gloucestershire side of the river), form the principal pleasuregrounds of Bristol. They lie high above the river, extend for some 5000 acres, and command a beautiful prospect over the city, with its picturesque irregular site and many towers, and over the surrounding well-wooded country. TOWERS IN FORE STREET NEAR CRIPPLEGATE PAGE SIZE: approx 8 INCHES x 4 1/2 INCHES IMAGE SIZE: approx 7 1/2 X 4 1/4 INCHES CONDITION COPPER ENGRAVING , BLANK on the back .The print has been cropped on the left hand side and top to the plate, and the top portion has deterioration as scanned. Suitable ageing. The image is clean, clear and sharp with beautiful depth and detail.This beautiful rare item would look great matted and framed.
