Circa 1830, 170 x 105 mm, 6¾ x 4¼ inches, buff printed paper wrappers, double ruled border, repeat of title page vignette, title and imprint, price (sixpence) on upper cover, publisher's catalogue on lower cover, hand coloured frontispiece of Blue Beard showing his wife his splendid apartments, hand coloured vignette on title page, plus 14 very good woodcuts in the text, approximately 70 x 50 mm, (2¾" x 2"), 47 pages, the frontispiece and last page are pasted to insides of the covers, as issued. Tiny split at head and tail of spine, 1 or 2 pale marginal fox spots, otherwise a very good clean copy of an uncommon early version of this story. Osborne II,589-90, an uncoloured copy.
