Derbyshire Ednaston Lodge Mansion, Winter COLOR PRINT.FO Morris antique prints colored engravings circa 1870s ANTIQUE COLOR PRINT Title: EDNASTON LODGE Approximate Image Size: 5 X 7 1/2 inches Approximate Overall Size: 8 X 10 1/2 inches Brilliant color print. Printed and engraved by by B. Fawcett, Driffield. This beautiful attractive colour plate originates from and is one of a Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of The Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britian and Ireland as presented by F. O. Morris. A greater proportion of the drawings which originated from the publication were by Alexander F. Lydon, and printed from coloured wood-blocks using the Baxter process by Benjamin Fawcett. Published by William Mackenzie, Ludgate Hill, Edinburgh and Dublin CONDITION: Mild light spots on marginal area otherwise in Very Good Condition. The colors are brilliant, rich and bright. Reverse side is blank and printed on heavier quality paper. From an old descriptive: EDNASTON LODGE, NEAR DERBY, DERBYSHIRE. - KINGDON The Manor of Ednaston was, at an ancient date, given to the priory of Tutbury by Robert, Earl Ferrers. In 1542 it was conveyed to Francis Shirley, whose descendant, the father of the, present Earl Ferrers, resided at Ednaston Lodge. Mr Kingdon acquired this estate by purchase in 1872, and afterwards considerably improved it and added a new wing to the mansion. The Manor of Ednaston went with the estate. The family of Kingdon was seated at Trehunsey, in Cornwall, for many generations before 1400. Roger Kingdon died at Trehunsey, 1471. - .
