VERY RARE illustrated hardcover book, sorry no dust-jacket. "The Willoughby Captains" By Talbot Baines Reed. Illustrator: Harold Earnshaw. This is the New Edition, published by Henry Frowde, Hodder & Stoughton, London, 1908. 12mo, 19 cm x 13 cm x 4.9 cm, Blue cloth-covered boards, Gilt, black & colour embossed decoration and lettering on spine and front cover, Gilt embossed publisher's logo on back cover. CONTENTS ARE ALMOST LIKE NEW!!! However, there are several cracks forming between pages throughout the book. Spine is discoloured & a little grubby, some marks, bumped, scuffed & faded either end with tiny split in cloth at tail, decoration & lettering fully visible but slightly scuffed & worn away in places. Cover is slightly marked & discoloured in places more so on back which has bumps & bubbles in cloth, edges bumped & worn. Corners are bumped & frayed, boards exposed there. All outer edges foxed, top edge tarnished, may have been gilt. End papers slightly marked front & rear of book. Prize sticker on front pastedown. Some pages & illustration plates (very few) have slightly frayed edges, and/or scuffed corners. Light age tanning & occasional foxing throughout. SOUGHT-AFTER BOOK, LOVELY INSIDE!!!
