Título: The Waverley novels and Tales of my Landlord...
Editorial: Edinburgh: various publishers, 1814–32
Año de publicación: 1814
Edición: 1st Edition
26 separately issued works in 78 volumes, post octavo and duodecimo (slightly varying sizes from 167 × 100 mm to 177 × 112 mm). Uniformly bound by Riviere & Son in later brown crushed half morocco, green cloth sides, spines lettered in gilt with gilt raised bands and gilt motifs to compartments, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. Occasional faint ownership signature. Spines faded to brown, tips a little bumped, contents lightly toned with sporadic mild spotting, occasionally with minor cockling. An excellent set, attractively bound. First editions of all the Waverley novels, certainly among the most popular and widely-read novel series in 19th-century European literature, together with all four books in the Tales of my Landlord series. This collection has each work, from Waverley (1814) onwards, in first edition as issued, complete with half- and fly-titles. It is an assembled set, not to be confused with later collective reissues.
