72pp, 28 b/w & 9 colour illusts, very good+ hardcover with decorated boards (no dustwrapper as isued) Stross (aka Stwosz c 1455-1533) was a German sculptor , engraver and painter of the late Gothic school who created the polychrome wooden altar at St Mary's Church Kracow; Casimir IV's tomb at Wawel Cathedral; Zbigniew Olsenicki's tomb at Gniezno; the Assumption of Mary at Schwarz, Tilman Riemenschneider at Mannerstadt; the altar in the Bamberg Cathedral; Saint Roch for the basilica of Santissima Annunziata in Florence.
