Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1913 Excerpt: . . . Western Roads--and it is claimed that the initiative was taken by the Santa Fe--have put in effect the same rate on sugar from Kansas City to Chicago as is in effect from Chicago to Missouri River, viz: 12 cents. This has caused considerable trouble in the Chicago local market, for the reason that grocers located on the Missouri River have been taking the sugar shipped to that territory by the Mallory Line, and which was sold in the Missouri River towns at low figures, and sending it to Chicago at the 12c rate. I think a letter from you to Paul Morton, asking him to withdraw the 12c rate on sugar from Missouri River to Chicago, would have a good effect, as, if they will fall into line and pull the rate out, we can get the other Western Trunk Lines to do likewise. T. P. R Mr. Crim: I offer in evidence letter from Lowell M. Palmer to C. J. Brister, dated Nov. 18, 1902, as contained at page 455 of Book 99, being Petitioners Exhibit 2082-E for identification.
