Descripción

1st edition. Hardcover. Signed by Gillian Martin, one of 26 copies only. Each of these stories is illustrated in line by the artist, who has hand-coloured the two title-openings. The two stories start from each end of the book, ie one is printed upside down compared with the other, and they therefore meet in the middle. At this point Gillian Martin has provided an original drawing for this Special Edition, lettered by her in this copy as V. Additionally there is a loose 4-page leaflet, the same size as the book, headed 'Three Receipts for Domestic Cookery', featuring Gillian Martin's hand-coloured drawings for three of Lear's nonsense cookery recipes. (A further 225 copies were produced without these features.) In fine condition, just two little abrasions of the cloth from its inclusion in the accompanying slipcase. A wonderful, enchanting production. N° de ref. de la librería PSHB6744
