The Index of American Design was a 1930s Federal Art Project that held one vast collection of over 17,000 carefully documented drawings to show our country's tradition of fine craftsmanship. Among the many categories represented are furniture, ceramics, glass, silver, pewter, textiles and innumerable objects of daily use. In this book over 2,900 illustration, some 850 in color, present a previously unsurpassed panorama of American crafts and folk arts.
