First edition. Two volumes bound in one, octavo (24 x 15cm). Vol. I, pp. [4],xvi,154; Vol. II, pp. viii,1910,[2]. With the half-title to Vol. I (not called for in Vol. II), errata leaf at end of final volume & 65 fine and delicate aquatint plates plus 11 maps, of which ten are double-page. Some occasional offsetting from the plates to text leaves, the maps with some light foxing, as also the free endpapers, but otherwise a choice fresh & clean copy in contemporary green straight-grain morocco, the boards decorated in gilt & blind, the spine in six panels with armorial crest to centre and richly gilt, the edges gilded & gauffered, marbled endpapers.
