Some spotting & moderate wear to decorated full leather binding. This is a manuscript copy of this work bound in full leather with raised bands, with cover decorations and title in gilt on cover. The stories seem to be written in two different hands. The book contains 107 lined leaves, with 10 stories in the author's neat, legible hand on one side of each leaf in ink. The stories included are: Bertie, Pandora, King Arthur, Sir Gawain, Velient the Smith, The Enchanted Fountain, The Magic Bottles, The Forester' s Son, Rinaldo and Flordelis, The Three Princes, Phaeton's Ride, Latona and the Frogs, Midas, Bancis and Philemon, Psyche. The stories are told to a boy name Bertie, whose name appears throughout the book. Mary Ashmore is listed as the author on the manuscript title page. Although the title is Ten Stories, there are 15 stories here. They seem to be original stories or retellings of old stories to a boy named Bertie. No indication in the book as to where the author lived--or when--but this has the look of a something produced around 1900. The binding was obviously quite expensive when it was made for this book. This may be the same Mary Morse who married Edgar J. Ashmore in Morgan County, Illinois on 14 November 1883, but this relationship is speculative at this point. I have found no evidence that this book was ever published. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall. N° de ref. del artículo 10864
