332 pp.; 8vo; black cloth, decoration and letters stamped in red; endpapers decorated in red floral pattern; dust jacket. Front corners a trifle bumped; small ownership label on front pastedown; evidence of damping to spine with some bleeding of red from endpaper on front jacket flap and on the verso of endpaper; jacket torn, chipped, taped somewhat damped, with approx. one inch of loss lower spine; and loss to lower corner area of front jacket [ 4 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/2]. Authors first book, " Presented to Alex Case[n?]dan, Captain of the Night Watch, regards Idwal Jones." A novel of California's boisterous 1850's. Good or better in Poor dj preserved in mylar wrap.
