Detalles bibliográficos

Título: Signed Commemorative Envelope.

Ejemplar firmado: Signed by Author(s)

German Luftwaffe bomber pilot Hogeback (1914-2004) gained reknown when he and his 3-member crew (which flew more than 500 missions in World War Two) became the only Luftwaffe crew to be awarded the Knight's Cross -- the other crew members being combat observer Wilhelm Dipberger (1918-2005), Gunter Glasner (born 1917) and radio operator Willi Lehnert (1916-75); Gollob (1912-87) was an Austrian-born Luftwaffe ace and Knight's Cross recipient who flew 340 combat missions and became the first pilot in aviation history to claim 150 downed enemy aircraft; Seiler (1909-89) was an ace and Knight's Cross recipient who flew about 500 combat missions and downed 100 enemy aircraft. Signed Commemorative Envelope, 6½" X 4¼", cancelled in 18 September 1971. Fine. Left half is a color cachet depicting an English Spitfire and captioned "31st Anniversary of the Battle of Britain 18th Sept 1971," with text at right describing commemorative flight on which this envelope was flown. These six Knight's Cross winners have each signed boldly in blue and black inks, all but Seiler adding a line of military credits. A biographical statement about each signer (in German) rubberstamped on verso. Accompanied by eight high-quality modern black and white glossy photographs, various small sizes, depicting WW2-era scenes with Hogeback and crew members. An outstanding commemorative envelope signed by Hogeback and his entire crew plus two other Luftwaffe aces -- all six Knight's Cross recipients. N° de ref. de la librería 37785
