A collection of ship's newspapers from the U. S. S. General Omar Bundy (AP-152) , a transport ship used at the end of World War II. Two partial sets of newspapers document parts of a voyage to the Philippines in late summer 1945, and a return to the United States in spring 1946. These newsletters kept passengers informed of news headlines, baseball scores, recreational events on ship, as well as offering cartoons and satirical essays. Partial pages from The Gob, labeled 25 July, 31 July, 1 August, 2 August, and 6 August. These document the ship bringing troops to the Philippines, arriving on August 6, 1945. During this voyage, the commanding officer was Captain Lawrence Wainwright. These issues have commentary written in ink by a passenger, as well as a map of Manila noting that they had been stationed in Batangas. The 1946 incarnation of the Bundy's newspaper is much lighter in tone and consists of issues labeled "Fore & Aft," Vol 2, Nos. 18, 25, and 27; dated 24 April, 30 April, and 2 May 1946 respectively. The commanding officer for this period was Captain John Hammond Simpson. Overall there are 1 or 2 pages of each issue. The paper is quite fragile and is torn along creases, and there are a few missing corners, but in good condition for fragile mimeographed pages. ; Folio 13" - 23" tall. N° de ref. del artículo 011378
