Acerca de

Book by Deutch, Stephen, Foerstner, Abigail

From Library Journal:

Deutch was born in Hungary (1908), learned photography in Paris, and moved to Chicago in 1936, where he made a considerable name in commercial and editorial photography. These 108 photographs--mainly in black and white--sample his early commercial work and the themes that have interested him through the years: the sculptural quality of nudes, people in their everyday context, city life. The 20-page essay by Abigail Foerstner (the art critic of the Chicago Tribune ) is the only substantial material available on Deutch and is a serviceable introduction. As much of the photographer's work documents life in Chicago, this is essential for area collections and a fine addition to any other.
