Réfutation point par point des accusations portées par le contracteur à l'endroit de l'ingénieur du Gouvernement relativement à divers problèmes de gestion et de construction de la partie du chemin de fer sur la rive nord du Saint-Laurent, entre Trois-Rivières et Québec. Intéressant exemplaire d'association ayant appartenu à Henri-Gustave Joly de Lotbinière dont la signature apparaît sur la couverture supérieure en plus de la mention «Private». Quatrième Premier ministre du Québec (1878-1879), Joly de Lotbinière avait été chargé de cette fonction par le lieutenant-gouverneur Letellier de Saint-Just suite à une polémique avec le gouvernement du conservateur Boucher de Boucherville sur la question des chemins de fer et cette publication a sans doute été très importante pour Joly de Lotbinière durant cette affaire qui avait fait grand bruit à cette époque.
