Born in Sarone in 1915 , a fraction of Caneva, in the province of Pordenone, Romano Rui was a prolific sculptor and worked with various materials: bronze, ceramic, marble, synthetic resins, wood, copper and other metallic materials. A pupil of Leone Lodi , after graduating from the Art School he studied sculpture, companion of Francesco Messina at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts . From 1942 to 1952 he taught at the Liceo Artistico di Brera and from 1945 he was assistant professor of Ornamental Plastic at the Polytechnic of Milan , at the Faculty of Architecture, obtaining in 1961 the free teaching position. From 1965 to 1977 he taught Sculpture Technology at Brera. Among his pupils, Alfredo Mazzotta. He had opened his own sculpture studio in Milan, in via Guido d'Arezzo, later moved to via Vesio 14. Collaborator of Gio Ponti , he created furnishing elements in buildings designed by him. His ceramic production - vases, panels also with sacred subjects, jewels - began after the war.
