R.S.V.P. : A Book of Parties by Toni Taylor was published by Thomas Y. Crowell Company, Publishers, in 1937. This 5 1/2" X 7 3/4", 74-year-old, 226-page offering is an ex-library, rebound First Edition(or, at least thought to be) offering is in G+ condition. With some of the standard library markings in evidence, there is also some modest yellowing of pages of text, some light shelf wear at top and bottom edges of volume's spine as well as at the four outer tips of front and back cover boards, and some light, random foxing on not a large number of text's pages. There is also an approximately 2 1/2" X 4 1/2" summary(perhaps from a missing dust jacket's front inside flap?) attached, strangely, to the other side of the "title page" for Section I of our book. From author's Foreword, dated June 1. 1937, "Every woman wants to be a gracious hostess--and she CAN be. She wants her home to be a charming place where her husband and children will be proud to bring their friends, and this too is possible. Entertaining well doesn't just happen. It requires careful planning, an enthusiasm for providing a good time, and some original ideas. This book is written to provide party plans for the woman who may not have a big house, a staff of servants, or a great deal of money to spend on party-giving. The reader will find carefully and completely planned affairs for all the important holidays; and ideas for general entertaining as well. The important matters of invitations, decorations, games, and menus are explained in detail. These plans are simple to carry out and inexpensive, but each party has a theme and a 'flavor' of its own, It is the sincere hope of the author that every perplexed hostess who may pick up this book will find helpful suggestions." This offering is presented in four parts or sections: holiday parties, bridge parties, showers for the bride, and money-making affairs for clubs, churches, and schools. All of the myriad, classic black and white period photographs are courtesy of McCall's Magazine. If you're a nut for Americana, or wish to know what the proper homemaker consulted for her party ideas, whatever the occasion, this offering is sure to meet your needs. The pictures alone are a hoot.Thank you very much!!. N° de ref. del artículo 005241
