Biografía del autor:
Dr. Uwe Richard Kackstaetter is a geologist with extensive experience providing project management, research and consulting services in geology, geo- & hydrochemistry, and environmental science, as well as an accomplished and successful college faculty in geology, earth & environmental sciences and related educational fields.
He earned his B.A. in Geology from the University of Northern Colorado, a secondary teaching endorsement in the physical sciences as well as his M.S. in Economic (Mining) Geology from Brigham Young University, Utah, and a Ph.d. (Dr. rer. nat.) with magna cum laude in applied geology and mineralogy from the University of Würzburg, Germany.
His expertise and occupational assignments range from environmental testing of drinking water wells, groundwater flow modeling, site contaminant evaluations, geologic investigations & hydrologic reports, as well as chemical / health consultations for the use of naturally dyed stone wares. He was also instrumental in developing a pilot program for a low-cost contaminant evaluation & remediation process, successfully tested at an arsenic polluted field and track arena in an artificial water recharge area. Involved in many professional publications on this and similar subjects in two countries. Co-author of a unique Mineral-Rock Handbook, simplifying mineral identification for laymen & professionals alike, which became the basis for this unparalleled Physical Geology Laboratory e-Manual.
His background as an educator stretches over 10 years in college and secondary classrooms and includes topics and courses in ecology, genetics, meteorology, physics, chemistry, water resources, physical science, earth and space science, oceanography, world & physical geography, environmental science, world resources, and of course introductory and advanced topics in geology. Conducted education classes in science, geography & the earth sciences for prospective & seasoned public school teachers. He also organized and conducted geologic field excursions in the U.S., Brazil & Germany.
Dr. Kackstaetter serves currently as Assistant Professor of Geology at the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
