A bound collection of parliamentary reports January June 1852 with Big Ben/Elizabeth Tower interest. Folio 620pp, each report separately numbered. Internally generally very good in original cloth with modern leather spine and new endpapers. One folding plate worn but legible. Reports, among others, include: Evidence taken before the commissioners appointed to inquire into the cost and applicability of the Exhibition building in Hyde Park (50pp but lacks title page); The Enlargement of the British Museum (42pp with 14 colored plans); An Estimate of the Sum required . To defray the Charge for the Funeral of the late Duke of Wellington 2pp; Estimates &c. Civil Services for the Year Ending March 1853, 7 sections with expenditure estimates for a variety of purposes to include buildings in Britain and Ireland Royal Palaces etc., Salaries, Law & Justice including Police of Dublin, Expenses of Transportation, pension payments to named police officers, Public Education, Colonial Services to include the Support of Captured Negroes and the Commissions for Suppression of Slave Trade, Superannuation and Retired Allowances for named members of prisons including the Convict Hulk Establishment, various Dublin hospitals, orphanages, etc.; Copy of the Memorial presented by the Clockmakers Company of London respecting the lack of competition in the allocation of the contract for the Great Clock to be erected at the new palace of Westminster; The Pimlico Improvement Bill (with coloured plan); Expenses associated with the removal of the Marble Arch to its present position; Papers relating to the Great Clock for the new palace at Westminster - 102pp with folding plate of the tower (worn but complete) and 2 plates of the clock mechanism.
