London: Printed for J. Johnson, 1786. Fine contemporary leather binding. Second Edition. Two volumes, [iv], 367pp., [vi[, 359pp, half title in volume two only, contemporary tree calf, gilt spine. Approximately 8 inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles on red labels, and gilt volume numbers on green labels, 5 raised gilt bands dividing 6 compartments, 4 of which have gilt decorations, worn to top and tail. Joints good condition cracked but holding to front joint of Vol I, repaired to Vol II. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition leather boards with gilt lines around the edges, Vol. I has a small crease across the top left hand corner of the rear board, general signs of wear on both volumes. Page edges good condition top edges on both volumes are slightly darkened, all edges are speckled and light blue. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition Vol. I front hinge is cracked the full length and daylight can be seen, others are sound/repaired. Paste downs good condition plain paste downs, Vol. I has a bookplate on the front paste down Robert J Hayhurst, all paste downs are tanned and foxed. End papers good condition plain end papers, tanned and foxed, Vol. I has some hand written notes (in pencil). Title good condition lightly tanned with some foxing. Pages good condition Vol. II has a half title page, Vol. I pages are remarkably clean with only minor foxing, Vol. II pages are slightly more tanned throughout. Binding good condition sound.
