Chapman aand Hall, London, 1862, first edition in book form; two volumes, 8vo, 145 x 217mm; pp viii, 320, frontispiece and 19 plates, viii, 320, frontispiece and 19 plates; half black polished calf over marbled boards, spine panelled and titled gilt, raised bands; edges and boards rubbed and in vol II rubbed along the hinges as well; internal front hinge in vol II cracked but holding, and with vol I professionally rebacked and with new end papers in place; occasional light foxing but internally clean and firm in both volumes and overall in good condition; bookplate of Rosemary Luck neatly pasted in each volume. . . . . . Orley Farm, the location based on a farm earlier owned by the Trollope family, was supposedly the novelists favourite work. It was published in shilling parts by Chapman and Hall from March 1861 to October 1862. The book followed with volume I appearing in December 1861 and volume II ten months later in October 1862.
