This is a very nice piece of music ephemera : A flyer announcing the joint performance at Grace Church, Utica on April 22, 1946 by organist Alexander McCurdy and his wife, harpist Flora Greenwood. Alexander McCurdy (1905 - 1983) was one of the leading organists in the United States, and very influential for many future classical organists. Among other positions, he was organist at the Second Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia; head of the Organ Department at the Curtis Institute; and head of the Organ Department at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. He frequently appeared with his wife, harpist Flora Greenwood (1908 - 1998), who was the lead harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra under Leopold Stokowski, and a star in her own right. Their performance at Grace Church, Utica on April 22, 1946, included Ravel s Introduction and Allegro , and works by Debussy. The performance was sponsored by the Central New York Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and the Munson - Williams - Proctor Institute of Utica. ****************************************** Promotional flyer, consisting of a single sheet of paper, printed in sepia and red, with sepia photographs of each performer, with their instruments (on opposite sides of the flyer). The sheet measures approximately 7 x 10 1/4 , and was folded horizontally (most likely for mailing). The performance venue, date and sponsoring aegis are printed in red. ***************************************** CONDITION : - VERY GOOD - There is some toning (or weathering) on the side featuring Flora Greenwood. There are a couple of small nicks to the edge, else the flyer is clean and nicely preserved. N° de ref. del artículo 964
