Size of binding: 5 in. x 7 1/2 in. x 1 1/2 in. (thick), xvi, 784 pp., including Preface, index. Bound in full red morocco leather with five raised bands on spine, and gilt-lettered titling, and with design of gilt lines and floral tools on the spine, and double-line gilt borders around the covers, with smaller floral tools in the corners, cover edges gilt & gilt floral dentelles on the leather turn-ins; headbands, all edges gilt; marbled paper endpapers. With binder's stamp on the lower edge of the back of the front marbled endpaper: Bound By Riviere & Son. Former owner's book label pasted to front marbled paste-down; small section of marbled paper on the upper right corner of the facing marbled endpaper, shows abrasion (from a removed label?), light rubbing to spine ends, cover corners. Page edges show light tanning, overall, a fine copy in a simple but handsome 19th century morocco binding. Contents: Contributions to Knight's Quarterly Magazine (1823-24); Contributions to the Edinburgh Review (1828-44); Contributions to the Encyclopedia Britannica (1853-59: Francis Atterbury, John Bunyan, Oliver Goldsmith, Samuel Johnson, William Pitt); Micellaneous Poems, etc. (1812-56).
