The first two volumes, in addition to the five memoirs accompanied by the author s scholarly notes, which form a complete treatise on ancient chivalry, a dissertation on the reading of ancient chivalric novels, extracts of Provençal poems, a writing on the ancient honors of the court of Burgundy. The third volume contains Voeu de Heron, a poem composed in 1338; Via de Gaultier de Manni, which acquired glory in the war between Edward III of England and Philip of Valois.
