Gilt lettering, gilt decoration and raised banding to spines, and extensively decorated gilt paneled boards and wide inner dentelles. Marbled endpapers, top page edges gilt. In very good conditions. Lovely bright clean bindings. Hinges weakening, partial cracks to ends of front hinges. Some light rubbing to boards. Endpapers darkened, half title in vol.1 darkened and main title in vol.2. A couple of minor handling marks else pages all very clean and tight throughout. Else very clean and tight copies. 412 & 459pp. Count Lavallette, (1769-1830), French politician and one of Napoleon?s generals. This volumes deal with the period 1789 to 1805.
